
Nearby are Rakovskaya Street and old Nemiga Street with the oldest building in Minsk – the Church of St. Peter and Paul - that dates back to 1612. The ensemble of downtown – today it is Freedom Square - consists of Catholic monasteries of the 17th century.
The present day Cathedral of Saint Spirit – the main place of worship for the Orthodox in the republic - was once a nunnery of the Order of Bernardines. The monastery of this order was converted into Archives two centuries ago and still houses documents.
You will also see the buildings of what once was the complex of the Basilian Order, the restored building of the Town Hall, the ensemble of Jesuits’ Collegium and The Cathedral of St. Mary the Virgin.
The estate that once belonged to the Maniushko Family dates back to the 19th century and is a good example of estate architecture of the time.
